Every Porch PNW package includes indoor poinsettias: one with The Welcome, two with The Classic and four in total with The Grand. Poinsettias are tender indoor plants, so we hand them over for indoor enjoyment rather than leaving them on the porch.
Keep them warm, not hot
Washington State University Extension describes poinsettias as very sensitive to temperature changes, from heating ducts, outside drafts and even open windows, and suggests about 55 to 70°F. It warns that frost, or temperatures below about 45°F, will kill them. Oklahoma State University advises not carrying an unwrapped plant outdoors when it is below 50°F.
Light
Place them in a bright spot indoors, out of drafts and away from heat vents.
Water
Water when the surface of the soil feels dry, until water drains from the pot, then empty the saucer so the plant does not sit in water.
If nobody is home on installation day
Tell us in your request and we will arrange the handoff, so the plants are never left outside in winter.
